POLICE MAKE 14 ARRESTS AT LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT THE CITY
(7/25/2006) NEW HAVEN – Over the past week, police have arrested 14 individuals at locations throughout the city for drug-related and other charges.
On 18 July, Tanika Cornelius, 26, of 14 Gilbert Avenue, was arrested in the area of Shelton Avenue and Ivy Street and charged with possession of a controlled substance and motor vehicle charges. Marquis Johnson, 20, of Hamden, was charged with possession of a controlled substance. Police seized two bags of marijuana.
At Clay and Ferry streets, Darius Tyson, 18, of 97 Ward Street, was arrested and charged with possession of a narcotic substance, possession of a narcotic substance within 1500 feet of a school, possession of a narcotic substance with intent to sell, possession of a narcotic substance with intent to sell within 1500 feet of a school, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of drug paraphernalia within 1500 feet of a school. Police seized $9 and 43 bags of crack.
Anthony Moore, 25, of 85B Brookside Avenue, was arrested on 21 July in the area of Dixwell Avenue and Munson Street. He was charged with possession of a narcotic substance, possession of a narcotic substance within 1500 feet of a school, possession of a narcotic substance with intent to sell, possession of a narcotic substance with intent to sell within 1500 feet of a school, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance within 1500 feet of a school, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell within 1500 feet of a school and conspiracy on all charges. Jayvon Williams, 26, of 195 County Street, was arrested and charged with possession of a narcotic substance, possession of a narcotic substance within 1500 feet of a school, possession of a narcotic substance with intent to sell, possession of a narcotic substance with intent to sell within 1500 feet of a school, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance within 1500 feet of a school, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell within 1500 feet of a school, motor vehicle charges and conspiracy on all charges. Police seized $3,285, five bags of marijuana and 10 pills.
At 540-542 Elm Street, a 14-year-old juvenile was arrested and charged with possession of a narcotic substance, possession of a narcotic substance within 1500 feet of a school, possession of a narcotic substance with intent to sell and possession of a narcotic substance with intent to sell within 1500 feet of a school. He was also served with an outstanding warrant. Police seized $75 and 37 bags of crack cocaine.
Darius Lewis, 18, of 39 Willis Street, was arrested at 15 Willis Street and charged with possession of a narcotic substance and trespassing. Police seized one bag of crack cocaine.
In the area of Dixwell Avenue and Division Street, a 17-year-old juvenile was served with an outstanding warrant.
On 23 July, in the area of Atwater Street and Dover Street, Vernon Robinson, 22, of 27 Limerick Street, was arrested and charged with trespassing, motor vehicle charges and interfering with police. At Dover Street and Clinton Avenue, Richie Jones, 18, of 104 Dover Drive, was arrested and charged with motor vehicle violations.
At Division Street and Winchester Avenue, Rodney Reynolds, 22, of 210 Davenport Avenue, was arrested and charged with possession of a narcotic substance, possession of a narcotic substance within 1500 feet of a school, possession of a narcotic substance with intent to sell, possession of a narcotic substance with intent to sell within 1500 feet of a school, assault on a police officer, interfering with police and motor vehicle charges. Police seized 51-1/2 pills.
Mitchell Lopez, 25, and Omayra Gonzalez, 21, both of Waterbury, were arrested in the rear of 2A Jose Marti Court on 24 July. They were charged with possession of a narcotic substance, possession of a narcotic substance within 1500 feet of a school, possession of a narcotic substance with intent to sell and possession of a narcotic substance with intent to sell within 1500 feet of a school. Police seized $423 and 21.7 grams of crack cocaine.
At Grand Avenue and Franklin Street, police arrested a 17-year-old juvenile. He was charged with possession of a hallucinogenic substance, possession of a hallucinogenic substance within 1500 feet of a school, possession of a hallucinogenic substance with intent to sell, possession of a hallucinogenic substance with intent to sell within 1500 feet of a school, burglary in the second degree, trespassing and interfering with police. Police seized $247 and three bags of “wet.”
In the area of Columbus and Howard avenues, Stanton Taylor, 29, of Orange, was served with three outstanding warrants, one each from Waterbury, Troop G in Bridgeport and Troop I in Bethany. Charges included a count of failure to appear, two counts of failure to appear in the second degree, evading responsibility, violation of a restraining order, using a motor vehicle without owner’s permission and operating a motor vehicle under suspension. He was additionally charged with interfering with police and motor vehicle charges.
